Sorry, Heading out of Rochester, NY on Saturday towards Columbus, OH and staying at our son's house overnight. A chance to see the grandkids on the way to Gatlinburg. Maybe next year.

Re: Comet Gathering 2023
How late on Sunday are you folks staying in PF? We're coming into town (Gatlinburg) on Sunday for a weeks vacation and just found out your gathering was this weekend. I've been an member here since 2011, but inactive for the last several years. I won't have my 1962 Comet with me but would love to st...

Re: Parasitic Power Draw on my 62 Comet
Thanks Mike,
I guess I procrastinated a little over this one. With a little forethought I guess I could have solved this without even lifting my meter.

Parasitic Power Draw on my 62 Comet
For the last few years I have been chasing a parasitic current draw issue. I couldn’t keep my battery from discharging over the course of a week or two. I knew with these older cars, there’s the potential for pinched wires, aging components and that just about anything was possible. I had a constant...

Re: Seat belts?
My '62 Comet also had the seat belt holes with nuts welded in place in the floor for the front seats. It was an easy job as the reproduction belts came with the hardware. I didn't locate any holes for the rear seat when I had the interior out, so I haven't had anyone ride in the back since it's been...

Re: 62 comet with 170 carb question
Chris, I also have a '62 Comet, 170 Engine and the Holley 1909 carb. My carb has an automatic choke. I thought all 62's had the automatic choke on them? maybe I'm wrong. Check out my web site where I have pictures of my carb before and after I cleaned and rebuilt it. http://www.dplivingston.com It m...

Re: 170 & carb issues
Hey Cometdog, I have a 170 in my '62 Comet with a Holley 1909 carb. I rebuilt the carb last year and had some "stumbling" upon acceleration that I couldn't get rid of. After checking everything over 2-3 times and scratching my head for a while, I read about installing a larger main jet. I guess it c...

Dave, sorry It took two years to answer, just noticed your question. I'm not absolutely sure where the carpet came from as my father-in-law purchased it 6-7 years ago and it was stashed away for a while.6T5 404 wrote:Dan,

Re: 1962 Comet Upper Control Arm Bushing Torque
Ron, Yes, the Plate approval process was painful, but it makes a good story. I was dumbfounded when I handed the plates to the local DVM and they said they couldn't approve them. I love your old California black & yellow plates. I guess because I've seen them in so many movies/TV shows. I love the f...

Re: 1962 Comet Upper Control Arm Bushing Torque
Great job on the radio. I would have never thought you could fit it in the smaller package. The shaft is fine, it the threads on the arm where the bushing threads in, that's stripped. I'd need to find someone who welds, but I think I know a few folks who can help me out.
Thanks again,
Dan

Re: 1962 Comet Upper Control Arm Bushing Torque
Ron, I'm glad you liked my site. I don't know much about the different size Ford radios, but it sounds like you fit a square peg into a round hole. Good job. Well it turns out the threads in my Upper Control Arms are stripped. That explains why the original bushings were so worn down. I looked aroun...

Re: 1962 Comet Upper Control Arm Bushing Torque
Hi Ron, I appreciate all your help! Yes, they came with the slots already cut in and grease fittings as well, from Falconparts.com I see no spacing mentioned in the manual, just the tool. I guess I'm a little confused at why the spacing tool is needed. Since the bushings tread on the shaft at the sa...

Re: 1962 Comet Upper Control Arm Bushing Torque
Hi Ron, Thanks for the quick reply. I did get the slotted thread version, so I'm set there. No on the spacer. I figured it was to keep the arm centered so I was tightening each side equally, and measured as I tightneed. If that's not sufficient, are the spacer tools still available? A quick search f...
