Re: Ford O Matic vs C4

Isn't the bellhousing on the Ford O Matic non removable if I remember correctly? The C4 is a fairly easy swap, like previously stated, just a couple things to work out. I purchased a bolt in cross member for my comet I had but that was years ago. The correct Bell Housing for the C4 is not difficult ...

Sorry, must of gotten rid of it. Have about everything else. Good luck. If you can't find what you are looking for I do know of a local salvage yard that had two complete 170's still in the cars, I am sure they will sell a head off one. No idea what they would want for them though. They also are onl...

I am not sure of the cost for rebuild. I will try to check today to make sure that I have one, if I do it will be very reasonable.

Yes, the 200 has the intake cast into the head. Where are you located? I think I still have an extra 200 head sitting in the shed.

I got my parts for my 63 from www.falconparts.com about a year ago. I would bet that they would have what you need.

DITTO! I would have to agree. Use the 200 I-6, great little engine. With all the parts available through http://www.classicinlines.com/ it would be the most logical option (IMHO)! You save weight over the 302, smoother running, better milage. With the new aluminum head that mike offers at classicinl...

My 63 has dash lights. Once in a while I do have to jiggle the light switch to get them to come on though. Just a thought.

Robert,
Thanks for sending me the pictures. There is no doubt about it, it was the one I had many years ago. It was in primer when I sold it though. I will look around for my earlier pictures of it.

Robert, Welcome to the group! I would bet ANYTHING that you have my old Comet. Let me take a guess at a couple of things. The inside is painted kind of a light blue, the seats are kind of a blue/gray cloth tweed, with vinyl trim? The doorpanels and rear deck was covered in the same type of cloth. Th...

We had the same problem up here by St. Louis. Glad I have a wood stove in my basement, it provided heat for the house while the power was off.

The car is currently red, so I will go with something in that catagory. The wife wants a metallic, but I have yet to pick a specific color.

Got her running today!

I got her running today after 3 years being down! Sure was nice to hear if fire right up after being down so long. Installed a rebuilt 200/C-4 combo, but not able to drive it yet due to no driveshaft. My FordOMatic shaft will not fit. Hopefully by summer it will be back on the road, and I am hopeing...
