Re: 1964 Comet disc brake conversion help

Robert, Is your Comet a V8 car?? that is an important part of my reply. I read the link that you provided and was surprised at the end the total cost for the conversion. For little more, you could buy a new complete bolt on kit that uses 4 piston calipers, dual bowl master cylinder and comes with an...

Re: 302 oil pan???

You may have an issue with the front cross memeber if you go with an after market oil pan. I went with a Milodon 8qrt pan. I had to notch the front of the cross member so that I could get the drain plug out. I think a stock pan would have the drain plug in the bottom of the pan, so that wouldn't be ...

Re: Which Headers?????

I have a '66 and I went with Hooker full length headers.. I really like them and they cleared everything... I am running a T5 with a cable clutch.. http://www.holley.com/data/Products/Technical/6901HKR.pdf the above is a link to Hooker headers.. I also bought a Flowmaster kit for a '66 Fairlane.. it...

Re: New 66 Comet capri owner

ok, I am assuming that the car has manual brakes... a quick question....does the car still have the single bowl master cylinder?? if so, then there is no proportioning valve (that i am aware of).. I would suggest that at the very least, go through the entire brake system and make sure that everythin...

Re: New 66 Comet capri owner

hooker long tube headers are an easy bolt in... you can also upgrade to 4bbl intake and carb... I went with a disc brake kit. a lot of guys here and on other comet forums are fans of the "granada brake swap", but I did n't want to go that way. check out SSBC.com they have complete kits. I also repla...

Re: New 66 Comet capri owner

That is great... I am also a '66 Capri owner, but mine is a 2dr hard top.. '66 is the first year that the Comet was based on the Fairlane and not the falcon body frame. therefore, some fairlane parts may interchange. the trunk on the comet is longer though. I went with a flowmaster kit for the faril...

Re: Exhaust system

Arnie, I purchased a complete FlowMaster kit and run Hooker long tube headers on my '66. It has a worked 302.. the kit included FlowMaster 40 Series mufflers and an H pipe. i ran both right out the back. it sounds great... when you stand on it, it growls and then when cruisin' I don't even notice it...

There are a bunch of online stores as well that will have reproduction parts... my favourite was AutoKrafters....

not sure what your clearances will be for the bigger wheels...

Re: 1965 cyclone wiring

I just did a quick check and there were two products offered by Painless that may be of interest... #10123 is a Ford Universal Harness and #20120 which is a '65-'66 Mustang Harness. Each of these indcate that they have an engine compartment section. You may want to contact PAinless and ask them if t...

Re: Howdy folks

I put a 302 in my '66 and one of the things that I did that I thought was both different and helped in making my engine more reliable was to put in a Pertronix Flamethower HEI distributor.. this has a single wire hook up and no external coil and a single wire hook up for the tach. something you need...

Re: Any recommendations?

I have a '66 Comet, so I bought a kit from Flowmaster for a Fairlane, that required little modification. It came with 40 series mufflers and almost lined up perfect for the headers. it came with the brackets that bolted into factory place. http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/products/index.php?main_pa...

Re: '66 power brake conversion

I went about it differently.. I purchased a disc kit from SSBC and it came with a dual, manual, MC. I had to keep the push rod from the original single MC. I have found that manual brakes do work well. I appreciate that doesn't address your current problem, but I thought I would offer another option...

Re: No running lights on 63 Comet

do you have running lights up front??? do you have headlights?? have you checked bulbs?? Grounds?? fuses?? pull the connector off of the back of the switch, with a test light, check for power.. if you do, pull the switch out and using a simple ohm meter, you can check the switch in it's various posi...
