Re: New Engine
If it doesn't leak it is smoking out the tailpipe. Some guys have different ideas of what a "new" engine is. Sounds like the cheapest rings money can buy coupled with worn pistons and cylinders that were not honed or improperly honed. The rings are probably as "seated" as their gonna get. If it runs...

Re: Flooding in South Carolina
This disaster is an example of why we should be prepared and vigilant. There may be more trouble to come in S.C. I'll bet there are a lot of neighbors helping neighbors at this time of trouble. I can tell you there are a lot of prayers headed your way from Nebraska.

Re: Changing The Odometer
It's most likely exempt legally due to age. 66k IS pretty low for original miles. I would be stoked to have such an old car with such low miles and wouldn't touch it. Makes it better in my book.

Re: Sun visors
They do not interchange. I needed visors for my 64 hardtop and got a great pair from a junkyard 63 Meteor formal roof 2dr HT. They are not cheaply sewn they are a kind of molded plastic material and fit perfect with a slight adjustment. I got lucky.

Re: Opinions,,,,,,,
I'm sorry. I'm afraid I may have started this blood feud when I told BJB that Australians wear funny hats.[you know, the cowboy hat with one side of the brim stapled to the top of the hat, so you would always have one sunburnt ear]. But he makes up for it with fantastic pictures of the car action do...

Re: Oil Pressure Revisited
Tud, A lot of guys who rebuild stuff do it without lube so they don't make any mess. Sad but true. I believe an original 64 260 or 289 would have forged steel non rail rockers and close tolerance pushrod holes to guide the pushrods. As such, a hardened pushrod is required. Good luck with the rest of...

Re: Endurashine or polished intake?
The Endurashine looks good and holds up but there is nothing that looks as good as polished aluminum. It makes a statement by its presence. It is a measure of craftsmanship that requires dedication and continued work. It is a barometer of how you care for detail. It doesn't just look good, it's proo...

Pops, Maybe you're polishing your Comet too much. It always rains when I wax my black 64 Cyclone! [seems like it anyway] Stay safe.

Re: 260 Oil Pressure
That sending unit on the extension by the fuel pump may be the cause. Also make sure your engine ground is clean and secure. It won't lose oil pressure sitting in storage.

Re: How to determine engine size?
A 302 has a 3" piston stroke. A 289 has a 2.87 stroke if I remember right. This could be measured from a spark plug hole maybe. A 260 will have the breather in the front timing chain cover and a cool aluminum water pump. No breathers in the valve covers either. What are the plans? Do you need anythi...

Re: Want Better Sounding Pipes?
I like glass packs. They are pretty quiet if you have an H pipe xover. Very loud without the xover. I like the glasspacks with the louvered inside. It makes a difference which direction the gas goes through them, soundwise. Also, most exhaust systems are too large in diameter. It is of no use to hav...
