Re: 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone for sale

This is a Great thread! Build the car you want to Drive!

Makes me feel a whole lot better about my plans to put a new R&C front end in my '64 and then drop a fuel-injected Cleveland in it...getting excited just thinking about it.

Man, that Motor looks Sweet!

Where'd you get the Serpentine belt kit? & Who makes it? I would like to do the same for my Cleveland.

Re: 8.8" Swap

It sure is an appealing option if you can get Limited-slip, a 3.73 and Disc brakes all for a good salvage yard price.

Re: 64 Comet Project OVERHAUL

Tks Cary,

So for planning purposes, how much Wider/Taller/Longer did you need to make the new tunnel-hump?

Re: 64 Comet Project OVERHAUL

Hi Cary, First of all what an awesome car you guys have built! Just WOW! I see you went with the T56 Magnum, how do you like it and how easily did that install go? I'm planning on a manual transmission (from a C4) for my '64 and was thinking about the T5z just because it seemed the easiest swap to m...

Re: shifting rear end/leaf springs

Hey Guys,

What company makes the Coil-over shocks and about how much do they run for(a '64 comet)? I went to the Summit website, entered the car and it showed No listings .
Are they adjustable to help raise the back of the car to help w tire clearance? Tks.

Thanks Tristan. That's a relief. So much to do to it.

Hey I see you're from Monck's Corner. I was born in Camden and Dad's family came from Greenville; & Mom's from Springfield (Orangeburg Cty).

Re: Another addict

Welcome Eric,

I'm a newb' myself and just starting to get into the Comets. Glad to have more Mercury fans and owners here to share our projects with.

So what motor/transmission is in your Cyclone?

Re: Hello!

Tks California! That's some great info. From what I've been reading over on Modern Driveline, I wouldn't be able to use a TKO trans in a '64 Comet (Falcon) w/o having to drastically cut out (modify) the Hump, which is probably more drastic a job than I would want to bite off. But they also have a bi...

swapping '64 to a '65 instrument cluster

Gents, Im considering how difficult it would be to replace the '64 instrument cluster and chrome dash bezels with the ones from a '65. Is this a too hard to do swap or would it be fairly straight forward? Not that I'm any good with wiring but I got a friend or two who are pretty good at it. I...

Re: Hello!

Hey PBJ, From the pics of the car, it appears like someone already cut a hole in it further back than the original stick shift hole should've been. So I doubt I'll need to much more cutting on the hump. As far as seat, (i'm 6'0") I'm prolly going to junk the current seats (they look rough!) and inst...
