Re: Door Alignment
Thanks for the picture!! That actually brings up another issue, which just started yesterday. So, the arm in the picture that is on top that goes inside the spring...the point on the bend of that arm which is up against that bolt keeps jumping to the other side, which keeps the door from closing at ...

Re: Heating and Air Conditioning
Thanks for all the help. It finally warmed up enough for me to be able to work on the car. One of these days I'll get a garage...anyway. I pulled out the heater box, and there was gigantic rats nest inside. No rat, thankfully. Anyway, I cleaned all that out, and cleaned out the blower. I changed to ...

Re: Door Alignment
No, it's not loose. It just seems to be out of alignment.

Re: Stability over 60-70 mph
This is my first classic car. So maybe I need to just get used to it?

Re: Stability over 60-70 mph
Thanks for the response and clarifying questions. The steering still feels tight. It actually feels surprisingly tight for the age of the car. But everything else feels...wobly. I guess an alignment is a good first move. That will at least get me an idea of what's going on under there. I know a few ...

Re: Comet Gathering 2016
I'm new here, but Pigeon Forge is only a few hours from me. Plus June 2nd is my birthday, so I might be able to convince my wife. I might just be able to make this happen. Is there registration or something? What do we do for three days? Which hotel do we stay at?

Door Alignment
As you can see in this image (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByMhjcsP028SX1lzdGZnME1sdjg/view?usp=sharing), the driver's side door isn't perfectly aligned. Granted, in the image the door isn't completely closed, but hopefully you can get the idea. Basically, the rear of the door is low by maybe an...

Stability over 60-70 mph
Hey everyone. So, I love my Comet, even though I've only had it for about a month. It's a '62 2-door with a 2.3L from a Ford Ranger. Build thread is over here:http://www.cometcentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1454&start=15 with more recent pictures here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByMhjc...

Re: Heating and Air Conditioning
Thanks everyone. I have a new blower motor, heater core, higher temp thermostat, foam kit for the heater box, as well as a huge roll of bubble-type insulation. I'm hoping to install it all on Saturday. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Re: Heating and Air Conditioning
Excellent feedback! Thanks so much, guys! The thermostat is apparently around 160 degrees. That's what the temp gauge shows anyway. Anyway, I have a few follow up questions. The door on the drivers side is just a fresh air vent so that neds to be closed. The door on the heater needs to be closed so ...

Heating and Air Conditioning
Okay, so I'm daily driving my new Comet (http://www.cometcentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=13215) and it is dang cold. I drove to work today with a shirt, sweater, jacket and snuggie. And I was still cold. This is my first classic car, so I might be missing something incredibly obvious. Like......

Build Thread - '62 Comet
Hey guys! So here's a link to the original build thread for the car: http://www.cometcentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1454&start=15 The short version is that the car has a 2.3L from a '93 Ford Ranger. I drove it 3 1/2 hours home, and it got 27 mpg. :) Here's a link to some pictures: https://dr...

Re: Howdy!
Thanks everyone! The car runs great. The only issues are minor fixes that shouldn't take too long. The main issue that needed to be fixed immediately was the shifter. Someone removed the piston shift nob, which I didn't really mind. But someone also broke the post coming out of the transmission, so ...

My name is Ryan and I'm in Southwest Virginia. I'm married and I have a son and another baby on the way. Earlier today I became the proud new owner of a car some of you might recognize. Here's the build thread for it from a few years ago: http://www.cometcentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1454 A...
