62 Comet 170 - front suspension too high - camber off
Rebuild my front end and somehow ended up with my front end up too high in the air. The upper control arm actually bottomed out on the car frame. After I installed the engine it lowered from the weight, but only slightly - I now have about a 1/4 gap. Coincidentally the rear end also seems high (new ...

Re: 63 carpet kits?
If you're looking for a gold color carpet, I have a new one still in the box I bought from Mac's about 2 years ago - made by Auto Custom Carpets. I changed my mind on my 62 Comet S-22 paint color so will have to buy myself another aqua blue carpet kit. I also decided to go with adhesive metallic flo...

Re: Stainless brake lines 1960 wagon
Have never used hard stainless, but I just fashioned all new lines for my 62 S-22 Comet with standard (soft) steel lines. What made a huge quality of life difference, was my flaring tool - bought it for $40 on E-bay, and Eastwood also sells one. The chaps who make it are over in England so it took a...

Re: Door panels
I'm pretty happy with door & rear panels I got from this guy for my '62 S-22 Comet. He's on eBay selling Falcon panels. He's able to 'emboss' or, whatever it's called, the "Comet" lettering/logo in place of Falcon or Ranchero. He was also able to hook me up with an odd color combo not shown on his a...

Re: HED 3 speed rebuild question
Lots of good info, gents - thanks. Yes, should have mentioned it is a 2.77 and many folks seem to agree with you about a 3.03 being a wise upgrade. Many folks say though that if you go easy on it, the 2.77 is reliable box. One disadvantage is it has no synchro low gear so you have to get used to com...

Re: Comet drive shaft length question
Excellent - glad to hear that a 57" shaft was built, so they are available. Thanks for checking this out!

Re: Comet drive shaft length question
I think there's a different forum for this kind of talk - and with photos! Hopefully I'll get my hands on a longer one. Oops - there we go again. Apparently the Comet and Falcon have a 2" difference - will keep an eye out for a Comet donor car. Luckily there's no big rush with so many other projects...

HED 3 speed rebuild question
Am wondering if anyone out there has any experience with and suggestions for rebuilding an HED 3 speed manual from a '64 Falcon. Wondering where I might find a manual / parts breakdown to help me keep do it, and whether this is even a doable project in my garage. I've never torn into a trans before ...

Comet drive shaft length question
Have an odd problem with my '62 Comet S-22 (170) - am swapping out my 2-speed Merco-O-Matic trans with an HED 3-speed manual out of a '64 Falcon sedan (170). The Comet's original trans length end to end is 31" and it had a 57" drive shaft (center of joint to center of joint) so from the back of the ...
