Even though the C4GF-AB is a 600 CFM the stock primary (stamped "L" on bottom) and secondary (stamped "B" on bottom) boosters were tuned for a 289 application. The stock jetting was #48 on primaries and #55 on secondaries. If it were me I'd probably start with #50's on the primaries for today's fuel...

The C5OZ-B / C7OE-A flywheel balancing (not 164T casting) is unique for a 289 HiPo engine.

I.e. service replacement C7AE-A (non-HiPo) and C7OE-A (HiPo).

The C4GF-AA and C5GF-AB are not HiPo (High-Performance) carburetors. The 600cfm carb. size and "K" in Mercury VIN causes the confusion, especially since those were both characteristics on a 65/66 HiPo (K-code) Ford Mustang. The information on Mustangtek listing the above carbs. as HIPo is incorrect....
