Re: Body Panel/Sheet Metal Question
Your best bet is to find a GOOD bodyman that knows metal fabrication and have them build and weldin your patches [unless you feel competant]! I have not found any sources of 65 Comet exterior panels, probably because 64s and 65s are so different they don't feel it is worththe expense to manufacture ...

Re: 2 cars have new homes

Re: 2 cars have new homes
hi John, glad you made it well and fine except for the ground wire (private joke). been flogging on the 40. just about have the brakes and clutch finished. this was the most corroded system I have seen. I wonder if he used water instead of brake fluid. I was able to flush the lines but everything el...

2 cars have new homes
as I mentioned in my last post all good things must come to an end. so, here's the update. John G on the forum here bought the comet. drove out from near Philly to pick it up. it's now at the Bowling Green Hot Rod Reunion. sad to see it go but it's in good hands and will be in a very good home. John...

Some day all good things must come to an end
as the title says sometimes all good things must come to an end. due to some family issues and impending retirement I have to make some hard decisions and selling the comet is one. to be honest this is way to much car for me. better for a younger one. this was really a fun build and I learned a lot ...

Re: Parts sources
for dash pads www.mustangproject.com they were the most reasonable in pricing I could find. pad was excellent. worked fine on the 64. pads are the same for comet/falcon. most list for falcon, but they interchange. here's the best I found for stock upholstery http://home.earthlink.net/~falconcomet196...

Re: HVLP Spray Question
with the hvlp gun, it's low pressure but it's the volume you need. I would suggest getting as mentioned a regulator for the gun at the gun with the knob to adj pressure. pull the trigger then adjust the pressure. you need volume from the compressor. I would kick it up to 90 to 100 if you can and jus...
Re: Gas tank?
Thanks, my tank has a bunch of pin holes in the top and if I fill it up more than half way it stinks the whole car up. One time I took a tank in to get cleaned and it got worse when they hot tanked it and then I had no tank, so..... I'm a little nervous about going through that again. John as menti...

Re: Crites ram air hood
Let Crites drill and tap the hinge and latch holes, worth the little extra charge!!!DO NOT use stock hinge springs!!!!!! ROY. ditto, ditto, and ditto. quality on mine was excellent. only a little adjusting and sanding. as Roy said hood latch was dead on and so were the hinges. no springs on mine, ju...

Re: Anyone cut shock towers for clearance?
I used the crites kit for the fe. comes with templates, plates and crossmember. even with the kit the fe is very close for headers. all fit well and the workmanship on the springtower plates was excellent. more pictures in my albums linked below. alan http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL97/467416/23303...

Re: Headlight switch install
Thanks for the pep talk Pops. I have a headlight switch that does not have the long metal extension that I see on other models. But the tube and knob I have are about 3 inches long, so that the thing won't tighten to the dash. Am I missing a piece, or have the wrong switch or tube and knob? The cur...

Re: clutch recommendation
I always like McLeod in my drag car and CenterForce in my street cars. I have a CenterForce in my 66 Mustang with a 347 and a 5speed. Has light pedal and clamps hard. Best of both worlds! Just don't get one of those cheapo Zooms. I have know a few guys that have had problems with them. ditto on the...
