Re: what did you do to your comet today?
Rarerat Nice Comet is it a 260 car? I finally made some progress on my Comet, new motor is in and I made it around the block and back. :D It ran when parked but the coil and fan temp switch went bad setting in the drive while the motor was being rebuilt. The thermostat gasket sprang a leak setting a...

Re: what did you do to your comet today?
Kind of late notice now but here is a link. http://www.cruisinthecoast.com/ I believe that falls under the "I used to do it all night and now it takes all night to do it" category. You going to Cruisin the Coast? I rebuilt the carb, cleaned her up a bit and went to the What-a-burger cruise night. Li...

Re: 406 FE
Jim I have some info on the 406 FE motor as I have a 62 406 Galaxie. All the 406 motors I've seen have the indention cast in the block for cross bolt mains but I have never seen one cross bolted I'm thinking all the cross bolted blocks went to Holman Moody etc. c2ae-j c2ae-k c2ae-v 62 c2ae-bd 62 cro...

Re: 289 Timing Gear Cover

My Comet had 289 Shelby (271hp ?) front cover and pump on it when I bought it. I couldn't find a front cover when I broke it in the first motor explosion and I had to get 67 iron pump to fit available covers.

Do all the 65/66 289 covers use a different water pump than the 67 up or are the 271 hp different. What about the water pump interchangeability on the early front covers with the oil fill tube.

[quote="64merc"]Hey pops, I hope you had a better night than I did. I busted the wheel studs, and it made a hard left turn into the wall. Dang hate to see that nice a car busted up! Racers are the same here when I had my wheel stud breakage ( 9 lugs) a racer used his rollback to set mine on my trail...

Re: what did you do to your comet today?
I've had trouble with my Comp Cam Poly Locks coming loose. I've had to set rockers a little loose and turn locks and nut at the same time to get them tight enough (tricky to do with solid lifters). It has rained twice a day every day for three months here ( record rain fall for the year already) so ...
