Re: Lower Crossmember for Comets
Early on when I was working on the ranchero and it didn't have a belly bar so I got a used one for an early mustang. Welded two bolts to the front frame same as where they mounted on a mustang frame. The belly bar was going to get bolted on there. But in the following years got the one from Dearborn...

Re: solder vs crimping
I find even with the best crimper tool you still can have connections oxidize and loosen over time. Temp changes coupled with dampness still penetrates. When you use the inner metal sleeve of a connector whether it is cheap or not work just fine. The key is soldering every connection. Staggering spl...

Re: gas tank vent
Depends on year. Some have a vent and others dont. Look at it carefully for a vent. If none found then you need a vented cap.

Re: solder vs crimping
That pic that Fred posted is his before pic not the after. But like fred said I always solder wires but never just crimp. Even the best crimping tools cannot guarentee a permanent connection. I have had butt splices stll lose the connection even after doing a proper crimp. I do use crimp connectors ...

Re: Tomb's 65 Comet Build
It's looking real good. As Lou said getting the paint on is about the most rewarding part. I didn't have a lot of motivation to work on mine till it got painted. Once mine was looking good I couldn't spend enough time working on it and getting it finally together. Couldn't wait to get it so I could ...

Don't know a lot about the super t10 but what I have picked up most of the super t10 was different with few interchangeable parts. But you never know you may run across someone who know them well.

Re: HEMMINGS MUSCLE MACHINES
Hey RON, Thanks for your reply. You seem to be the only guy who has also encountered this problem. I'm glad I am not alone. Anyway the modification you show in your pictures did not work for me. I tried it and found that while it adapts the inside diameter of the TOP LOADER part to the smaller T-10...

Re: Power steering
fair67, once you find all the right pieces it should fit together like any other ford. Have you considered doing electric steering? I did mine that way and Fred (Sassy) did his as well. We can both advise if you are interested.

Re: Electrical Problem
I had a Nissan pickup truck that the battery pooped out on my way home from work one day. All of a sudden the radio got louder. Didn't know what was going on until the next time I tried to crank it and it wouldn't even grunt. My theory was that the battery must have open-circuited, and I was puttin...

Re: Electrical Problem
Thanks for all of the responses to my question. I intend to use your suggestions next weekend when I'll have some free time. Does anyone have a theory why there's a brief brightening of the lights before they dim-- It almost sounds like a momentary voltage surge? If you know for a fact that the bat...

Re: removing clutch pedal on manual to auto trans converison
I wouldn't do it that way but have seen it done. I would either get the right pedal or at least remove the pedal and fab' a spacer in its' place.

Had a friend who used his with the clutch pedal pushed against the floor with the carpet over it to hide it. He never had any problem with it that way.
