Re: Pic's - Finally!
Thanks loman and will do! Schedule is tough with the kids but I hope to make at least one. There's plenty that'll keep me busy with what little time I've got but paint (thankfully) won't be one of them! I'm still trying to figure out all the work that was done.

Pic's - Finally!
Finally got a chance to upload a couple pictures. First one is one of the dealer pics (in SoCal); 2nd one is unloading off the car hauler after a long journey over the mountains. What's the most obvious difference??? SNOW! Further proof positive you don't live in the Midwest 'cause you like the weat...

Re: Water Pump and belt
Plenty of different mfg. water pumps out there. If you're talking about a sheet metal plate on the back of the pump w/ a gasket...it's supposed to be there!

Re: Water Pump and belt
You can get a water pump and/ or timing cover bolt kit pretty cheap:

As for the belt, measure with a piece of string and get three different, closest sizes; return the two that don't fit!

Re: Tell us about your first time...with a Comet!
When I was typing up my intro post I semi-forgot I actually did previously own a Comet. Think I was 17 and may have done a pretty stupid thing with the Mustang I owned at the time... Suddenly finding myself in pretty urgent need of alternate transportation. I found a great deal on a '66 Cyclone 289/...

Re: 23 Years in the Waiting
Thanks guys. Great line Groover! I thought I might get a chance to take the Comet out for the first time today. Err, no... Went to check the oil, air in the tires, etc. (you know, semi-prudent things to do before driving the first time) and the passenger rear valve stem broke!!! Par for the course -...

23 Years in the Waiting
I've loved Ford's since I was a little kid. Always Ford's too, most likely since that's what Pop always drove work-wise (he was a Caddy guy otherwise - never could figure that out!). When my twin brother & I approached "our challenged years" we took a definite bent towards hot rods; the '60's being ...
