Re: New to the club

I thought I'd mention that I think each one of the 4 headlight buckets is different, highbeams & left & right. the places for the springs, mount tabs & stuff have different locations so if it isnt the right one it might not adjust right or mount right. I believe you are correct. While I look for re...

Re: The Comet Legacy

Glad to follow in his steps. My dad is a Mustang/Fairlane guy. I don't think I can current afford to follow in his :P One neat thing: I have the original air cleaner that he used on that exact comet. His was set up to run 3 2 barrel carbs. I just need to get a new baseplate for it. He took a generic...

The Comet Legacy

When I decided I wanted to get into the hobby (obsession) of classic cars, I didn't really know what I wanted. Obviously something from the Ford family, so I first wanted a Bronco. When I realized that those can run anywhere from 10-45k, I asked my dad for some advice. He told me about my grandpa's ...

Re: New to the club

Good advice to sleep on the trim. Drilling for the mirrors was stressful enough. Good solid, sheet metal. Installing outside mirrors shouldn't be hard. Use the threaded pop-rivet type mirror mount kit from NPD instead of just screwing sheetmetal screws into the body. They are more solid and don't l...

Re: 65 Comet Headlight Buckets

I'm shopping around. I imagine they are the same on a 64 fairlane. I know they exist, I just gotta search for the right thing to find them.

Re: New to the club

Thanks! Don't be fooled. She is far from perfect. Probably a 10 footer. Some bubbling here and there, a spot along a ridge where a moron buffed through to the paint by the hood... Probably needs some restoration work to get it back to its super nice lustre. Good advice to sleep on the trim. Drilling...

Re: New to the club

I like the wheels too. I might be switching over to Cragar SS's at some point. That is a 2016 project, if I decide to do it. I have chrome trim rings on there now, too. Looks pretty sharp. Also has side mirrors now. Went with the rectangle shape, rather than circle. I'd love a cyclone hood. But that...

Re: 65 Comet Headlight Buckets

Same size, but they don't have those little clips that broke off on mine. I don't see why they wont work (if you match the 69 buckets with the 69 rings), but I wanted to see if anyone else has had experience with this.

New to the club

Hey, Been on the forum for a couple months now but this is my first post. I have a '65 Comet Caliente that I bought from down in Georgia. Didn't have a title (as GA cars before a certain date didn't HAVE to have one), but with a little effort and patience, it is titled and registered in Indiana! I d...

65 Comet Headlight Buckets

Hey gang, Working on getting my 65 Caliente road ready. When I tried to install new headlights, I had the misfortune of breaking a few of those retainer springs on the buckets, as well as a part of one of the trim rings. I understand that these are hard to come by, and they don't look like they are ...
