Re: Top Down Time to Cruise

Arkansas is not that far, we ride there several times every year. We even take our much dreaded Corvettes to Eureka Springs every year. Your welcome to come along anytime you want. If your ever in OKC look me up and we will go for a cruise.

Top Down Time to Cruise

Top down, time to cruise. I couldn't wait any longer. I am so tired of the cold weather I took the top down today and hopefully the weatherman is right and tomorrow will be above 40 degrees. If it is, the wife and I are going for a short but much needed cruise. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o31...

Re: Rebuild 260 or Replace with Crate Engine

Just got started on my original 260 rebuild. Will put on performer intake (with water crossover in back, old style) 500 cfm Edelbrock performer carb and Edelbrock performer cam/lifters. Rest of engine will be freshened up all the way, Pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump etc... Will keep you posted a...

Re: What I did to my Comet this week

Put a new distributor in the 64 today. The original being 50 years old was a bear to remove. I was afraid it may have seized for a little while but after some careful coaxing and wiggling it finally came out. The new one went back in easy and it started right up with the timing spot on. How lucky ca...

Re: Rebuild 260 or Replace with Crate Engine

Thanks Stacey, I'm just going to run the little 260 until it drops. I don't know what the oil pressure is. The stock gauge shows just above the low mark when it's hot at idle but perks up to about the middle of the gauge when running down the road. May put a gauge on it to find the actual pressure. ...

Re: Rebuild 260 or Replace with Crate Engine

Thanks for the comments. I believe I will keep the number matching 260 and rebuild it when it needs it. 109,000 miles and it still runs like a top. The wife and I took it on a four hour cruise Sunday with the top down. While it may not be a speed demon it gets down the road pretty well. I have a K c...

Rebuild 260 or Replace with Crate Engine

My 64 Comet Convertible has just over 109,000 miles and while the compression is still good the engine is getting a little tired. The oil pressure while not terrible is not as good as I would like. Any recommendations to rebuild the 260 or replace with a new crate 302? I know I would need a later mo...

Re: what did you do to your comet today?

Flushed the radiator, changed the oil and filter. Replaced the 50 year old master cylinder with a 67 Mustang dual bowl, ran new copper alloy brake lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, shoes, springs, keepers, etc. Orderd a bunch of new parts that I hope to get this week, man is this new ride cutting into ...

64 Convertible Trunk Lock

My trunk lock on the 64 gave up the ghost. I guess after 50 years it had enough. :( I have found locks at MACS and NPD. I would like to replace the entire lock assembly including the sleeve, rod, etc. Are there any other vendors that might have this assembly. It would be nice to get the glove box lo...

Re: New Ride

Interior is Black and looks like new. Paint is old but in good condition. Absolutely no rust anywhere. Consider myself very lucky as I have looked at many Comets before finding this gem. Currently in my shop with all four wheels off replacing all the brake lines, hoses, master and wheel cylinders. U...

New Ride

New Ride, 1964 Comet convertible. Just snagged this from a one owner family in Ohio. Long trip back to Oklahoma but well worth it. Solid car, zero rust, 109,000 miles. Looking forward to driving this all over the states.

Newbie from Oklahoma

Newbie from Oklahoma. I have a 64 Comet I can't wait to tear into. Russ's 64 post has inspired me to go with mini tubs. This forum is really cool and I know it will help me alot. :D
