OK first off I am very sorry that it happened and I take the responsibility for it not being taken care of I should have been around more.
I have gone through and removed all I could find if there is some I missed let me know, if I deleted your account accidentally as a spammer or pornographer, well sorry I did not do so intentionally but only if you had posted kitchen and sex stuff.
I tried to lock registration out currently but not sure I did, until I can get better counter measures, with that said I need some help, I re-established the Q&A to register and could use some questions and answers from everyone to insert in there, they should be questions that are difficult for a bot to answer but any good Comet person could, yes no questions are prob not good.
If anyone else has a suggestion to better protect the registration process let me know.
Again I apologize I want this place to be a good location for a really some great people I have gotten to know over the years and new ones I have yet too meet.

Here are three possible questions that everybody should know if they think about it:

Name the comparable Ford product to the Mercury Comet, and spell it backwards. (noclaf)

Name the more popular Ford product that owes its very existence to the Comet, and spell it backwards. (gnatsum)

Name the year of the best looking Comet, and say it proud. (1964)



And if there is anything you can do to fix the "active topics" section, it would be much appreciated. Can't thank you enough for this forum. So many of us would not be driving a Comet today if it were not for this forum.

Thanks for deleting the rest of those post. The access I have only allowed me to delete one post at a time. Which required up tp 5 clicks each. I deleted over 2000 and that took months with the time I have available.

I figured they found this site due to the word Lounge showing up in their searches, that's the only place I saw a post. I think change Comet Lounge to something else and they will have no interest here..............Al

No problem Boss I really appreciate everything you do on the site. Hopefully we can slow them down now.
I think I will upgrade the forum to the latest version sometime soon, but of course that always scares me, but then again I don't know if it will slow the baddies down any or not.

There is one more post in the lounge near the bottom of page 1, looks like it starts off with a couple german words & poster named sigourey, looks like a spammer.

a couple more questions for the bots
what is the engine bay cover called?
what is the suitcase compartment called?

What instrument measures engine rpm?
How many tailpipes are on a dual exhaust?
What is the lidded compartment between bucket seats called?

Like John's, my suggestions aren't too technical or Comet specific since some who want to register may not be too well versed in Comet terminology or mechanical ability (yet). We just need some common sense questions that a bot wouldn't know how to answer.

Ditto this, and since you're both here fixing things right now, would greatly appreciate if either of you can fix the "active topics" feature.

More kitchen sales I wonder what makes them find this site? Mike I did notice if you click on members & go to pg 46,& the last 10 or so pages, look in the address space there are quite a few kitchen websites in those. maybe you could zap those guys back to the UK

I will check it I have been booting as soon as I see them, but if they made a mass entrance I might nip it, thanks.

Unless there is an outcry in the next few days I think I will prune the user database, I can't find a way to automate it so I am just going to manually do it, I am going to delete all accounts that have >1 post that are over maybe 3 years, at least initially. I found some of the spammers had registered accounts from 6 months too a year just waiting I guess to spam us at the opportune time.
