factory build sheet
anyone know where the factory build sheets are hiding in a 62?
Re: factory build sheet
sometimes you can take a seat out and turn it upside down and it'll be under there,I think you'll be very lucky to find one anywhere, but stranger things could and have happened.....good luck.....pop

What Pop said, that is usual location is under the drivers seat but you never can tell, most haven't survived this long.

Re: factory build sheet
YRS ago when I bought my COMET,with 70 odd thousand actual miles and everything about it was orginal, then I took it all apart and redone it...I never did find the built sheet,,and I had this rascal in many pieces........so do all cars built make it out of the factory with that build sheet??......all my interior was in good shape and orig and had never been changed........so seems like if it was there I would have found it...............pop

Re: factory build sheet
I have heard of them under carpet, behind the dash, in the fender under either seat, you name it. I found one in the springs of a seat one time but cannot remember what brand of car it was.

I have had my 65 COMET completely apart, more than once,NEVER found a build sheet!! My Comet had 20,000 miles on it,never been apart until I started the build in 1969 or 70!! ROY.

Re: factory build sheet
I am one that had my build sheet but I have no idea where it is now, if it even exists anymore, mine was in the seat springs on the drivers side. I can't imagine I would throw it out but stranger things have happened, I might run across it again one day tucked away for safe keeping.

POP and anyone else;I guess if you were trying to prove what the car was originally,it could be important! To me,I could not care less,I only looked because the COMET was ALL in pieces!!!! ROY.

Re: factory build sheet
Two different cars, the ranchero and the mustang never found a build sheet. Looked in all the known places. Even if you find it they are likely to be in pretty bad shape after 40 + years. Best you can hope for is the door data plate and any physical evidence of what it was built with.

Re: factory build sheet
I found mine under the rear seat springs. Was ripped and in a deteriorated condition but still could read everything. I photo copied it and put the original in a clear plastic bag to save.
