Can't ya mark the nut location and count the turns off, stuff in a new seal, then crank back to the same spot? If pulling the chunk though, probably makes sense to go through it!! And stuff in a Trac Lok diff! :D :lol: :lol: :mrgreen:

Edit - oh, and replace the nut too! :D

That's what my buddy does. He replaces the seal and nut and torques to 75 ft lbs I believe.
I don't know. I'd like to know where the preload sets after that. The idea of a preload on the bearings is that the pinion won't move around when there's power going to it.

There's a VMF thread where the dudes got it all figured out. He just torques the nut on the same crush collar.

That's the beauty of the Ratech spacer and shims. Once you find the right combination of shims you could pull it apart all day every day and just torque the nut to spec.
