24 F Battery for my 65 Caliente

Post by garch65 »

Hey,

I've been slowly going through everything on my car, I ran into a problem finding a battery. I need a 24 f series battery that clamps on the bottom. I can't find a place that sells the battery with the lip on the bottom. I need advice from the Mercury enthusiast :)
I believe the battery size is 6.5 inches by 11"
I tried Sears, they have it but no lip on bottom to clamp too

Thanks,

I'd be shocked if East Penn "Deka" or the green ones didn't.

Thanks, I will check on that.
I also need an original dome light, I made the mistake of trying to push it on... ugh and I'm old enough to know better!

I used an adapter bracket NPD sells that allows you to use any 24F battery-

You can make your own.

It slides under the tray and you use a 1967 style over the top bracket with 2 side j-hooks. NPD sells those too. Total was less than $15

No problem!
Here's the 67 mustang style battery hold down to use with that bracket
