Memorial Day 2017

Post by albert »

Just watching the National Memorial Day Concert on PBS. Very moving with WW2 Vets, Korean War Vets, Vietnam Vets, Tuskegee Airmen, Wounded Vets etc. We have a lot to thank these people for. My wife and I are singing patriotic songs in our chorus tomorrow at our community celebration, also doing the armed forces salute. Very emotional but uplifting! Hope you all have a few moments to think about our veterans and what they did for all of us.

I was proud to visit the US in 08 and 09 and break bread with some ww2 US Air Force pilots and crew. They flew with Aussie crew during the dark days of the Pacific war. My mate Jack who was with the 5th AF is now 94 and lives in Des Moines. He has outlived all his friends and lost his wife a few years ago. He served his country well and is ready for the big sleep.

Sucks when someone you know turns into someone you knew because of a war.
Prayers to all
