Took the Crustang to the track last night.

Post by Lip Ripper »

I don't even know if I've brought this up. A few weeks ago there was a 74 Mustang II drag car on CL. It's a build that some older fella had built a long time ago. Nothing fancy but I could tell it wasn't his first. Nothing special, an old 302, reverse valve bodied C4 with only an 1800 stall and supposedly a 4.11 posi. It was too cheap to pass up so I bought it. Well, Sebring had their first Thursday night drag racing on the front stretch of the raceway. That track holds more history than any other with the exception of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in my opinion. It was a thrill to drive through turn 17, seeing all the rubber and chunks of concrete ripped off he outside wall then pulling up to the front stretch, staging and being able to stand on the gas of the famous Sebring International Raceway. The car hooks and drives well. 2 8.93's back to back. I need more stall. The 1800 would be great for street but those short strokers don't wake up until the 3500 range. It was the first time I've been to a drag race in 26 years. That is when I sold my 62 Comet and quit. I'll have to admit, it was fun.

Yep, picking up a converter today. I found a 3500 stall with 4 passes on it. The guy went to 5000.

If I lived closer, I'd bring my new trans jack over and help you install it tonight.

Awesome!

A friend in high school had one of those cars. He inherited it from his mom who bought it new I believe. Unfortunately it was rusted pretty bad by the time he got it, and he never made any attempt to fix it. I'm sure its sitting out in a field beyond repair now.
