What a Craigslist find. An all original 64 Galaxie, 289, 3 on the tree, and in unbelievable condition.

There's nothing like the sound of a pushrod V8 singing at the top of her lung's.

I cruise craigslist every morning. This came up. It was 100 miles north of me in Plant City. Bought new there and this family purchased it from that old lady in 2003. He now has cancer and selling off his old cars. I almost bought the other car, a 62 Corvair. I should've. When I got back I called to go ahead with the sale but it was too late. Back to the Gal, it is in incredible shape. I don't think there could be a better non restored original car. I think the 24,000 is actual because there is no wear. So the question is, did it average 450 miles per year or 2300 miles per year. It is an odd combo. First the silver smoke color is rare, second is to have the white top and red deluxe interior. The 289 and 3 on the tree is somewhat rare for a 64 Galaxie. This is my seventh one and the first with a 3 on the tree. Then no power steering, brakes or AC. Being a Florida car you'd figure they would have added air. After I tune it up and give it a bath I'll do a video of the car. While on the 64 subject, I have seen one that was a Fordor hardtop, 4 speed Galaxie 500 XL. Yes a Fordor with console, buckets and a 4 speed. We were young at the time. It was advertised in The Trader paper. A friend and I drove an hour just to see if it was real, it was.

The interior looks so bright and un-faded. Is it really that good or does the photo make it pop more?

Must have been garage stored most of its life.

No vivid enhancement, it's that nice.

I won't get it inside til the weekend and feel guilty about it. It does have a cover on it.

That car is just begging to be an R code clone. It's probably too nice to mess with but think of the possibilities! Rare R code and even rarer 4 dr model.

Wow! An original "Granny only drove it to church on Sunday" car. She must have been a tough old bird....manual clutch, no PB, no PS and no AC in Florida. She probably did her own tune-ups and oil changes, too.
