Montego Question from Germany

Post by joerg »

Hi everyone,

I recently found this forum , because I came across a 65 comet in Germany and was seeking advice.
Unfortunately the car did not match my expectations, but thanks to everyone how helped me out with their knowledge!!

But I am still on track..almost
This time I found a 69 Montego, which is according to my research the successor of the comet.

This site
https://www.instavin.com/order?VIN=9H07H594465
refers to it as a "Montego 6", which I guess would mean it is a v8-swap

My question:
The picture below shows a "shiny" part/shaft bolded to the engine-side of the tranny.
Is this some sort of extension to connect tranny to block?
Maybe because the v8 is shorter than the inline6, so a "gap" had to be closed in the swap-process?

Would this be considered a clean swap, or is this a "hacked" one
Personally, I would have expected a "gap-less" connection between block an tranny.

In addition, please comment although other aspects of the linked car, you find useful.

In advance, thanks to everyone!
Joerg

The shiny part is a new starter.
