What size wheels do you run?

Post by CometDaddeo »

My dad has a 64 Caliente and we have been discussing wheel size. Does everyone run 14s and if so what is the proper width? I'm looking to surprise him and buy him a set of Bullits or Torque Thrusts.

POP has a 64 caliente 2drht,,,14x6 torque thrust all the way around ,,,in my opinion they (torque thrust) are the only whl for a old comet,,,,but there might be a difference in opinion's,,but that is why your at the best place to ask for an opinion..pop

My preference is the Torque Thrust or Torque Thrust II (what I have). 14" tires are becoming less available and with fewer selections. Better selection with 15". You can swap to 15" and monkey with the tire sizes and profiles to approximate the same diameter as your 14" tires to minimize problems with tire scrubbing. Use the links below to compare.

15x7 Torq Thrust Originals (straight spoke) with 215/65-15 tires all around.
I got some tire rub with 215/70 tires.

14 x 5 up front, 15 x 6 on the rears.

14X6 with the correct back space and 195/70s. I prefer Cragars but have really wanted to try a set of Magnum 500 road wheels.
