Comet Register Interest?

Would you guys be interested in doing any sort of Comet Registry here for members? I was researching and I do not think there is any danger posting VIN information on your Comets but if anyone feels that is a risk let me know.

This is my thought, I will use my parts car as an example in case there are issues with this, I don't think anyone will use the junker for nefarious purposes if that is possible

I know some might lack data plates and only have VINs, that is how my parts car would be if I had not taken a picture of the data plate before the guy stripped the car and I bought it.



Using a common decoder, this Comet is;
62B - 2 dr. Sedan 404
X - Royal Maroon (exterior color)
14 - Beige (interior upholstery/color)
14L - November 14, 1963
42 - St. Louis
3 - 3.20:1
3 - 2 Sp. Automatic

4H11T528576 = Model Year 1964, Lorain Ohio Plant, Mercury Comet 404 2-door sedan, L6 200-1v, Sequential #528576

I believe you ignore the 5 in the sequence so this is Comet number 28,576. And yes I posses the title to this car.

Anyhow tell me what you all think.

I would but my door was replaced before I got it. I would like to find a few vins with numbers near mine so I can have a build date for a new door tag. I have more than a page full of lorain built 65 vins. I have it narrowed down to early mar 65.

my vin is

5H23A561316. the closest I have found to it ;
5H25C560627 -march 4,,,
5H01C563457 -march 18

so mine should be between mar 4th & 18th.

If anyone has a vin that starts with 5H & the last 5 digits are closer to mine (the top number) speak up !

I used to save pictures of 65's that I saw on ebay with vin #'s. I haven't done that in a while but I looked through it and found these. The town names are where the seller was from on ebay.
