Upper control arm alignment shim question. Does anyone have info on how much camber two 1/8" shims behind the upper control arm makes? It should also be said that I have done the Arning/Shelby drop.

You mean one for each bolt? or two 1/8'' shims stacked for each bolt?

The factory manual has a thumb rule for shim height vs degrees listed in the text. I think - not positive - it's in section 3-3. I'll look this evening.

manual says 1/16'' shim under both bolts = 1/3° more positive camber.so 1/8 under each would be 2/3° do you have a lot of negative camber? better check toe again if you change your camber.

Re: Upper Control Arm Shims
I started with .5- left and .7- right. It has settled to 1.25- and 1.50- respectively. One has to figure that the Shelby drop will increase the gain/loss some. So 2 1/8" equals 4/3 or 1.33. I'm going to start on the left with the 1.25-. A 1/8 and 1/16 should get me there. I'll follow up. And oh yeah, this will throw the toe outta whack, no biggie. We have the tools.

I've just done the Shelby drop and will be interested with your final settings.

Great video, Stacey. I missed this thread, somehow, till now, but back in my alignment days our rule of thumb was 1/8" = 1/2 deg on camber. It varied some between Fords and GMs with the different suspension geometries, but with that guideline you could get most any car to within 1/8 deg of target on the first try.

I just rolled it out and back into the garage. The right side math was the same. Both sides are a 1/4 degree negative and I couldn't be happier. I'll check the toe-in when my back stops cussing me.
