Can I come back?

Post by riverbum »

I have been away for a while, and I have been Comet-less for about 5 years now. I happened across this 65 today and I couldn't say no. I guess I'm back in the Comet business lol. It's a factory 289-four speed car. Needs floors, but the car is complete and wouldn't take much to get it back on the road. Looking forward to reconnecting with my old, not pun intended, Comet friends.

I tried to post a pic, but it keeps saying the file is too big. I will get a pic soon.

Welcome back! She's got some real patina going on. :D Is it just the angle of the pic, or does it have 4-lug front drums? :?

It's a factory 289 car with 5 lugs.

It's been a while. I have been working on the road a lot, and about to finish building my cabin/house I built on my property. Been keeping pretty busy. Looking forward to working on this thing pretty soon.

Thanks guys, I miss the fellowship without the drama. I was in Pigeon Forge the week of July 4th and stayed at the Mountain Breeze Motel. I told my girlfriend about meeting y'all up there several years ago for the Comet gathering. Even the ladies in the lobby of the motel talked about all the nice folks from the gatherings.

Well, gotta round me up a good toploader 4 speed, and I have a couple 289's at my disposal now, so it should be on the road after the first of the year.

Have any of you done a one piece, full floor, install? I have fabbed floors in race cars, and replaced floor sections, but never the full pan. Any good advice, besides x bracing the body in the passenger area?

A friend tried in a non ford car and ended up splitting it down the center, just too awkward and big to deal with.
Maybe with lots of space and some extra hands might be different.

Well, I got it home today, and have some good pictures of it, but my phone camera is a 48MP camera. The pictures are way too big to post, and photobucket is a pain in the butt. Is there another option for posting pics without trashing the photo quality?
