Thanks Pop, I do enjoy her and drive it regularly.

Cary, I just looked at Mapquest, looks like 1150 miles for me one way. I'm not worried in the least about driving Aunt Lou that far it's just I'm not sure I would have the time. Not sure if my blood pressure and heart could take a full weekend of Fords. I went to a single day of the Ford weekend at Maple Grove last year and it was rough. At least Mark was there to keep me company.

Well, since the Gathering I have been making the Mopar circuit, drove up to Carlisle again in the AAR, drove the 68 RT home in July. Picked the AAR back up in Aug and drove to Ohio and back for the Nats and will drive it home from PA next week end. In between all that while I am in PA I hit probably 4 week end cruises and shows. While at home, I have hit the Whataburger the last Saturday in each month and the Sonic the first Saturday, I rotate the cars including the CJ so that they all get. I use them all as daily drivers so no gas gets a chance to go stale. In early November I have Mopars at Big Daddy's and plan to take several cars, at the end of November we will probably do the Turkey Rod Run and take Aunt Lou. For anyone in Florida and South Georgia, if you haven't been to the Turkey Rod Run you should go one year.

Hope everyone has had a great summer with their cars and please post your adventures.

OK Kev, I'll give you a pass on the All Ford Show at the Falcon Nats. That is almost as far as I was from PF! :D There are just so many places a guy and his cars can be in a year. Cosmic has taken over my #1 spot, so "My Mopar" hasn't left the garage all summer. (1970 Challenger 472 Hemi convertible with weber carbs, for those wondering). Took Cosmic and a grandson down to Duluth Minnesota this past weekend, there was a car show in conjunction with the Garfield Avenue drag races. I won't race there, it is absolutely bizarre. They block off a city street and for a weekend hold legalized street racing. It's a rough narrow street, people lined up on both sides, no tree, and crazy fast cars. It used to be mostly street driven cars, but as progressed into serious race cars that run NHRA supergas, super comp, outlaw, etc.. They have 3 classes, everybody in the slower classes sandbagged to get there, Hell, a new Hellcat was in the SLOW class. They even had a pair of alchohol dragsters make side by side passes, pretty loud when they are only an arms reach away. I don't know who insures the event. BUT WHAT A GOOD TIME!
Anyway, Cosmic got a top 25 award, and I didn't scrape any paint off. ( But a car hit a deer in opposing lane on drive home, CLOSE call. )
Still pushing for a big Comet turnout at Wisconsin Dells next July!! :D . Take care, Cary

I thinking of taking Aunt Lou to the Turkey Rod Run, anyone else going?

Taking a couple of my cars to Garlit's in Nov for the Mopar show if anyone is going to that as well.

Might go to the Moonshine Festival at the end of the month but if I go my wife will pick me up at the airport in Atlanta and we will drive over so no classic just the 4 Runner. Anybody going to that?

Anything else going on in the Southeast of interest between now and New Years? How bout in your neck of the woods?

No snowmobile shows please, I'm just not into that, I'm from Florida!

Ok I know this is really in advance, but, does anyone know if the Pigeon Forge for next June would be the 3rd-5th?

I hardly ever get to leave the backwoods so I like to plan well in advance, and my wife tends to make all the arrangements and she would like to know :P

OK so my wife put in for time off and made reservations at The Mountain Breeze Motel for Friday and Saturday night (3 & 4, 2016) so barring complications we should be to PF next summer, sadly no Comet will come along unless I win the lottery (might have to play first), anyway we are planning a leisurely trip down to visit some other stuff on the way (not sure what yet) and be in PF Friday morning.

Seems that those that really like (love) Comets are a bit of an odd bunch, but obviously the nicest folks in existence.

I bought my Comet in 1979, and would never let it go, glad it wasn't a Mustang or even a Falcon (both are great cars btw) in my era it could have been a Maverick, but my car was a classic too me, even though it was only 15 years old, I was positive it was the coolest car around, not too impressed with 15 year old cars now, or even 20 year old ones, I can't get much past the early '80s before I kinda lose interest.

ALL COMET SHOW  , ALL FORD SHOW, and the Falcon Nationals all in one place in Wisconsin Dells! I know I have mentioned the All Ford Show that the Northland Falcon/Comet club is hosting on July 16th, 2016. It will take place at the Ho Chunk Casino and Convention Center located in Baraboo WI, in the heart of Wisconsin Dells , "The Waterpark Capital of the World".
Being that the Mercury Comet is the feature car for the All Ford Show on Saturday, this attracted "Comet East" to make this their summer destination spot, and to come on board and host a Mercury Comet show on Friday, July 15th! So far they have committed to bringing about 20 members' cars, and I know of at least another 5 Comets from our local club will be attending, plus :?: To see more Comets than what we are anticipating, you would have to be looking through the Hubble Space Telescope!
So take a month break after the PF Gathering and then head to Wisconsin for some more celestial veiwing :!: :D

July 14-16 2016 The Falcon Nationals hosted by the Norhland, the Raptor, and the Lake Michigan Chapters of the Falcon Club of America

July 15th Mercury Comet Show---- 10 awards--- All Comets and Meteors--- hosted by Comet East

July 16th All Ford Show --- featuring the Mercury Comet... Top 30 awards plus more... hosted by Northland Falcon Chapter and the Norhland Comet Club of Minnesota

Well Aunt Lou makes the rotation regularly as well as the other and June will be her first big trip since last year. She is driven weekly when I am home so not like she sits and waits. Brought my 69 RT up to PA this year so that was a blast, 1200 miles in 2 days at 80-85 mph. There is a cruise night darn near every night up here when they can bring the cars out. We only have the 2 at home, the last Satuday and the first Saturday, kinda stinks. I guess since we can bring them out year round we don't bother and PA can only come out from April to Oct.

It'll be good to see everyone next week end at the Gathering, come one come all even if your car cant make the trip.

Would anyone else be interested in going to the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, Ga Oct 21-23? The guy we met at the Gathering with the 63 vert goes every year and says there is a black 63 vert that shows up as well. I was thinking of going and I know a lot of you are from the area and might make the trip as well.
