DUDE heres the breakdown of your vin

5= 1965
t=metuchen NJ plant
27=cyclone bucket seats vynil roof
5=240 6cyl 1bbl low compression
31917= sequence number

i just double checked dudes vin and it comes up as a 240 1bbl low compression

240 is a big six, I don't think (sure) they ever had those in a Comet.
Check out this site http://www.jumpthegun.com/cyclone/info/id65.htm a "5" is not even an option, something isn't right, Dude recheck that vin, make sure you got it copied correctly.

some guy was selling a 65 yellow comet for over 30,000 for this vin.
and that was onn ebay
