Let the mods begin!!

'67 Caliente
My front and rear sway bars and subframe connectors are due in tomorrow.
So that oughtta eat up Saturday.
Sunday it's take apart the A/C controls and figure out the lack of vacuum controls for switching from floor to dash to defrost (right now it's floor only)
Then decide if i want to tackle the rear window gasket or hire a professional. Any advice will be gladly accepted.

I am now deciding on power upgrades as well as what rear gear ratio to go with.
I have 2 289s that came with it, the numbers matching one will get a fresh overhaul and get pickled.
The other motor (in it now) is a 66 289 4bbl from a Fairlane, its tired, no smoke but compression is down, my guess is original heads running unleaded have probably hammered the valve seats.

My original plan was to do the Mustang 2 IFS and a Coyote swap but the car is just too nice to hack up.

I am debating whether or not to stroke the '66 289 or buy a mid 90s 5.8 EFI and stroke it.
My desire is around 400 hp, probably not rwhp.
And a gear vendors OD.
My goal is a weekend fun car, maybe a road trip or 2 and a couple of 1/4 miles here and there.

Who has done what?

Let's hear ideas!

I'd go with a 351-based stroker. You planning on a C4 or TopLoader with the GV unit? Those are impressive but $$... I think the '66 & up Comets can fit a TKO or T56 easy enough (or modded AOD).

How about mid 90s 5.8 EEEC system EFIs. Easy to install, what harnessing etc?

Looking at the GV for a C4.
I heard tue AOD is problematic.

if your not using the stock engine,i would throw a 390-428 in it.a set of springs and motor mounts and it will fit right in,jmo. easy 400 horses with a FE

FE's are awesome too!! AOD can be upgraded pretty easy and can use the better 4R70W gear set. Starting from scratch I wouldn't go EEC-IV. The new Holley Sniper EFI and a Victor Jr. or SuperVic will likely cost less and be easier to tune. :D

Sway bars are in, major improvement over the OEM front and the non-existent rear, evidently I didn't order the subframe connectors yet but there is plenty of time.
I did score a fairly newly built 347, all forged, Victor Jr, solid roller cammed motor with a built C4 with a reverse manual valve body in it at a really good price.
Motor has less than 50 miles on it and 4 1/8 th passes on it.

Less cubes than I planned but for what it cost it'll be just fine.
The car will be used mainly for cruises and shows and will spend very little time on the 1320 (I have a 10 second station wagon to scratch that itch).
I'm thinking a 3:80 diff. And while I'm in ther eimwill do a rear disc conversion.
Just recieved my SS brake lines. So when I pull the powerplant out, I'll get a chance to do them along with the connectors, gears and cal tracs.

The deeper I get into this car the cleaner I find it is, there is a little rust on the DS front fender behind the trim. That fender was replaced after an accident in '05. Other than that there is no more than slight surface rust anywhere.

After the repower, and gears i will be picking brains for rim selection and tire sizes because I expect some traction issues.
So yes, at that time the Torq Thrust's will be for sale, they are 14s

Long time no post. I was hit by Hurricane Irma about a year ago, I evacuated the cars but the house took a pretty major hit. So the last 11 months were rebuilding a house, selling a business and moving to the N Ga mountains.
Just before the storm I was in the middle of a few upgrades. I did wheels, gears (3:80) and a rear disc conversion, I also added FiTech injection. I also bought a freshish 347, pretty stout with a nasty cam, RHS heads and some other goodies. 400 should be easily within reach. Having fits with the brakes now, I will make a separate post.
