66 Convertible top boot question

Post by Sabatona »

Hi Guys:

I installed the convertible top boot yesterday. Had to install the snaps in the boot. Luckily I had a special snap press tool (special jaws in a vise grip).

Have a question: I am not sure how the boot is supposed to attach/mount in the front behind the rear seat....

Here is a photo of mine currently:

Saw one photo on line of snaps along the partition behind the seat, not sure if this was factory or something an owner added...

Lip Ripper: How is your boot attached here? Any photos would be appreciated.

Thanks. Len

On my 64 there are snaps along the partition right behind the seat back. I assume that's factory. If they weren't there, the air would rush under and flap, flap, flap...

There is a chrome bar on the back of the seat frame. The rubber strip on your boot pushes into that.

I deleted my photobucket acct. over the weekend. I'd had it. Are you on the Comet Central FB page? If not I can email or sms a picture to your phone. Let me know.

Hi Stacey:

Ahhhhh.....I believe my car is missing the chrome bar on the back of the seat frame...

Yes, I saw the rubber ribbed piece sewn into the boot.

I did not know the Comet Central site existed on Facebook...I just asked to join.

If you like, you can e mail me the photo to lensabato@msn.com.

Next question: Does anyone have a spare chrome piece available?

Thanks in advance. Len

Len, I just heard from one of the 2 possibilities. He's a negative. There is a fella on here in Ga. that has a bunch of parts. Maybe he'll see this.

Edit; I just rattled my buddies cage out in OK. He said he hasn't looked yet but will. He claim's it's hot out there.
