Thanks! I've kinda looked at doing the relocation kit and mini tubs, but I think I want to do more. We'll see when it actually comes down to $$ though! Might rethink the big tires.

I'm still going round and round in my head, tub, mini tub, no tub, spring relocation, nothing at all and call it good....... I would like to put a bigger tire under it, just for the "look" really. How big of a tire can I fit under the 63 just by doing the spring relocation, like with Crites kit?

Still going round and round.......might be back to the Crites kit idea. Seems like without narrowing the reareand it wouldn't help a whole lot because their is only so much room to go out? I guess just run a wheel with a lot of backspacing?

I know an awesome local guy that can narrow the rear & you can use cut to fit axles, but yeah...all in all it’ll be a bit spendy!!!!

Thanks, I've got a friend that can do the narrowing, its just the rest of the stuff, wheels/tires, third member, metal, etc, etc....... I'm still thinking on it.

So I finally decided what I'm gonna do!! Nothing! Leave it as is and drive it. Actually I might put some lower gears and a posi in it, but that's it. Had it out a few times this year so far, it's loads of fun to drive!!

Solid choice with it coming up on spring! If you do decide to get a limited slip diff, IIRC there's a guy in Columbia that sells ready to go pumpkins for the best price I've seen.

Off the cuff, I'd say 3.50's would be ideal with your T5. I've got 3.89's with the same trans and cruising at 80 is...a no...

Sorry, haven't checked in a while!! I was thinking 4.11s, just because I don't drive on the highway much really, and I figure with the overdrive it would be okay. Maybe not? I checked that link, it was expired. Does he have 8" stuff too?

He does do 8” chunks! I would go with the 3.80’s. I have 3.89’s & T5 with the same 3.35 1st gear. You might as well (and can easily do so) start off in 2nd! With 25.5” tires RPM’s are 25-2600 at 70mph.

Nice! I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

I was just going to get a kit off Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HS37L ... 603B&psc=1 -

and have a buddy set them up.

Apologies for reviving an old thread. Has anyone tried Maier Racing leafs on a Comet? Their springs are quite clever in that the front "eye" is flipped, and the leafs in front of the axle are quite a bit thicker. This means the front half is essentially a location device/traction bar and the "springing" in handled by the rear half. Length-wise, they probably fit our cars, but I was told Mustang leafs are a bit wider and won't fit the stock hanger.

‘Stang springs are the same width as 63.5 & up Comets at 2-1/2” (V8 cars for sure, not sure if the I6 cars got ‘em until ‘64 model year), but they’re notably shorter.

I still haven't done anything with the rearend. .. but the other day was the first time I've actually driven it for any distance on the highway. It wasn't far really, 20 miles or something, far enough to be in 5th gear for a while. At around 60 i was at 1500 rpm. This is with the stock, I think, 3.20? I was pretty happy with that, but I think the 3.55 would be the way to go, get the rpms up just a little, more into the power band maybe. This was also the first time I've driven it in the rain for any length of time. Did ok. Needs wiper blades, and I was a little afraid to keep the wipers on the whole time. That wiper motor is about the only thing on the car that is totally original, untouched. I was worried it would lock up or short out or something!!
