Shifting too soon

Post by 65_Rat_Merc »

65 Comet, 200-6, C4 transmission. At full throttle, the trans is upshifting at about 3,200 rpm. How can I make it shift higher, at say 4,500 rpm???

Kick down working?
66 Cyclone GT; 245/60R15's on 15x8's and 215/70R15's on 15x7 Magnum's.
There's nothing like the sound of a pushrod V8 singing at the top of her lung's.

You can get a little higher shift point by turning the screw inside the shift modulator.
Turning clockwise = higher
Later c4's you can change to different modulators.
As mentioned before the kick down needs to be set also.
Good luck!

Santa Dave is right. pull the vacuum line off & insert a small screwdriver , go about 4 turns at a time to start with.
