Help Please

I just got a 64 Comet w/289 and C4 trans. Having steering box and shaft put in as we speak. Trans is low on fluid. How do you change fluid. is there a drain plug. shop manual show trans holds 8.5 qrts. what kind of fluid should I use? Thanks for any help.

No drain plug unless someone added one. just use a big catch pan when you remove the oilpan. F type fluid

and good luck resealing the pan. Be very careful as you remove. Loosen all the bolts evenly, don't just let the pan hang from the bolts on one side to drain. Otherwise it may be tough to reseal the pan. They are finicky.
