Must I Use a Booster

Post by masonjarz »

Hi
I have a1967 Caliente which I bought in July. The car came with a Kelsey Hayes style SSBC disc kit in front (non-floating 4 piston calipers). It is a manual system.
I am trying to improve the braking performance and a guy in a local brake shop told me that you can’t use 4 piston calipers without a booster. I don’t think he’s correct. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
Thanks

I don't have a booster, same 4 piston calipers as you brakes work just fine. No, not like power but I can lock them when necessary.
I'm using a 15/16s inch master cyl.
Your car may weigh a bit more than my 64 but not much.

I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about
