Control Arms
I have a 1965 Comet Caliente and I want to rebuild the front end upper and lower control arms, I want to purchase a set and replace. I get on Amazon and found them put in Comet for make and says it is compatible! I put in Caliente and it says they won't work. Why, what is the difference ?
Re: Control Arms
‘64-‘65 Comet (all models) uses the same upper and lower control arms as a ‘65-‘66 Mustang or ‘64-‘65 Falcon.
Buy new quality arms (moog) it will probably be cheaper than rebuilding your existing parts.

Re: Control Arms
Jims right 64-65 Comet,Mustang,Falcon all the same. Some companies like PST will have a complete kit for your car but like Jim said Moog can be the company to go with. ANDY

Re: Control Arms
Thanks Andy I am going to call MOOG tomorrow and talk to them on there internet site it don't show one. I have a 1965 Caliente and there is supposed to be a difference when you pick the model you have. I think I just need to order for a comet

Re: Control Arms
Like the guys said 64-65 Comets use the same suspension parts as 65-66 Mustang.
Sometimes it behooves you not to mention that you need a part for a 65 Mercury Comet. Saves confusion for the parts guy!
I’ll just say 65 Mustang and I get good results

Thanks Joe I talked with some vendors they say just order for the comet and everything would fit. Thinking about these.

Re: Control Arms
If you're getting tierod ends ,idler arms & other steering parts make sure you order for 65, because 64 on back were different. 65's have much better geometry & drive better than earlier comets. so mixing steering parts from different years will result in a bad handling car .
some parts in one of your pics dont look right.
where are these listed- what seller?
Is you car factory power steering?
lots of pics & info to familiarize yourself with the differences on this thread;

Re: Control Arms
Your right John, the inner tie rods don't look like the same bends to clear the mounting in the centerlink. Unless they look like that if you have power steering. ANDY

The first one doesn't look right, before you buy it you need to ask if the pic is what you get.Fixing65Caliente wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 11:23 pmhttps://p-s-t.com/series-220177-origina ... rand%3DPST
