Who knows the length's of the 64, 8 inch axles? I don't want to pull mine out just to measure them. I have a couple extra axles from a nine and will keep one if the length is correct. And how are they measured? I can find 15 ways to Sunday on the internet on how to measure an axle.
And how strong is the small tube housing? I'm thinking about cutting the tubes off the 8 inch rear and welding them to the 9 truck center section so that I don't need to change anything to put in a 9 rear. I also have a 1960, 9 inch rear with the bigger tubes and the small bearings, but I would need to narrow it and alter my axle attachments for the bigger tubes.
