Drop in 9 in. rear for 60 -65 Comet/Falcon

Post by Hillbilly Comet Man »

If you can find a 57-59 Ford Ranchero or wagon rearend,it will bolt right in place of your existing rearend .Spring perches and all are in the correct location. Plus you will gain 3/8 " of clearance on each side, not much but might keep your white letter tires from turning into whitewalls.I have 14x6 wheels and 205 /70 /14s ,I have rolled my wheel lips in and I still get a little tire rub in a tight RH turn.Let me know if any of you guys have tried any other rearend combinations. I have an 8" Maverick rear end in my '64, it too bolted right in, if you didn't need the size and weight of the 9", I think it was out of a '71 or '72, 4 bolt, I have a set of 5 bolt axles I hope will swap for the 4 bolt.

See Ya,

for the 60.. an 8" from a 78 granada bolts right in, have to get a wheel that will suck far in though.
