S-22 power train

Post by jim reese »

What engine options were available in the 1963 convertibles? I am more familiar with the Mustang motor options; 200, 250 sixes, 260, 289, 302, 351, 390, 429 etc. through the years.

In 1963 what motor options were available and which were the most popular? Also were the transmission option similar to the Falcons and mustangs?

Thanks. Jim Reese

Jim,The engine options for a 63 were 144 and 170 ci sixes and the 260 ci V8 engine. The sixes could be ordered with the mercomatic(2 speed auto),Three speed manual or the Dagenham 4 speed. The 260 could be ordered with the Mercomatic,3 speed standard or The Borg Warner T-10 4 speed.Later,Heath

I believe everything is similar to the Falcon as far as drivetrain options go.

See Ya,
