200 Rockers!

Post by Adams »

I'm about to make some of the purists cringe....I'm rebuilding a 200 for my 62 to replace the 144, but that's not what's cringe-worthy. My '65 200 rebuild has hydraulic lifters AND adjustable rocker arms. I've decided for simplicity sake to put a nonadjustable rocker set on, so as not to worry about adjustments. I don't see a huge benefit to using adjustables with hydraulic lifters, unless anyone can enlighten me here. Adams

Ive never had to adjust a aet of hydraulic lifters after they were properly set. I personally think its a step backward to put non adjustable rockers on.

Yeah, I guess I was just wondering if being able to adjust rockers with hydraulic lifters has any advantage. I know in theory the hydraulics are supposed to adjust and keep the 'slack' out of the valve train, but maybe adjusters can fine tune for imperfections in the valves, head, etc. My thought was that non-adjustables just simplify everything...put in the lifters, push rods, bolt down the rocker shaft, and away you go...

I suggest the hydraulic lifters and adjustable rockers, the adjusters help if you have any milling or decking done, I am looking for a set adjustable rockers myself right now.

See Ya,

Well, I now own both the adjustable set and the fixed set, so I know where you might be able to get an adjustable set!
