Ford 'Barra' engine for the early birds

Post by BJB »

The supply of good early 6 cylinder engines is drying up. The pre cross flow type haven't been made for 40 years..luckily the x cross flow continued up to the early 80s but even those are becoming scarce... ...Fortunately the later x flow DOHC 4 litre Barra engines are being shoe horned into the early Falcons. once thought of as an oddity, determination wins..

Fortunately these engines, and the earlier SOHC versions are plentiful in the wrecking yards and can be purchased often cheaper than what is being asked for a 40 year old 250 2V.

Add a turbo ( which was an option) and you have a power plant with torque and HP that makes the old traditional V8 look anemic.

This is the one thing I would consider going in my Comet if it wouldn't cost a king's ransom to get one here.

See Ya,
