Carb Question

Post by gmsnowball »

OK, I, of course, happen to have found a carb that I think is a Holley 1940 or it seems to look like one. It is a single barrel that came on a 1966 Mustang 200 I snagged a few days ago for my 64 Comet project. Only problem is the only numbers I can find on the card are as follows below I have looked high and low at every site I can find, the Holley site lists this carb as a 2 barrel from a 327 Chevy. I hate to ask for help but I have checked everywhere I know and my eyes are starting to cross from being on the computer so long.

6R
3806
B

The numbers are inside a circle stamped on the body of the carb.

A-! is stamped on the body just below the numbers above

The numbers listed below are stamped on the body
80220
2766

34R-5008B is stamped on the accelerator pump.

Help, I can post a photo when I get it from my phone to my computer

Almost identical except for the dash pot hanging below the fuel inlet. Mine doesn't have anything like that.

After more research it is a Holley 1940 carb. I think I can find kits at NAPA, I hope, if not Mike's carburetors seem to have them. thanks for the links and help. I find the little sixes just a tad more difficult to work with as they don't seem to have the support base the V8's have. They are very different from the engines I am used to working with. I do look forward to building this little six for the 202 Comet and making a nice little cruiser out it for the little lady.

That ain't no joke :P I love the challenge I guess. I keep saying if I ever build another it will be V8. Or a FI 4 banger :?

V8's are easy, after working on this little six I caught myself slapping my forehead and saying ..."I could have had a V8".....

Ready to power wash

After paint, all clean and shiny

Now all I have to do is decide what type of transmission to use. I have several C4's laying around, both two and three speeds and a T5 that would fit nicely. Decisions decisions... :?
