front drum

Post by 1962custom1 »

Had to get new frt drum on my 62 comet. took it to a shop and they pressed the bearings in the hub. however they ground down the studs a little to get old drum off. ( thought this was to be machine pressed. thats why it went to shop)now the new drum is not tight and snug. more like a back drum. is this ok? if not how do i correct this? new studs? any help appreciated. thanx, mike
If I wanted it perfect, I would'nt have hired me.

Thanx, got it figured out. As long as the drum stays tight against center hub all is fine.

It's not the bearing being pressed in. It's probably the bearing race, which the bearing sits on. But, who knows for sure, I'm just learning these Mercury idiosyncrasies. Like: "HOW DO YOU CHANGE A DAMN FUSE?" LOL...
