1965 Torque box

Post by Lip Ripper »

Who is everyone buying these from? I looked at a 65 404 C code car today and they're shot. So are the front floor's.
66 Cyclone GT; 245/60R15's on 15x8's and 215/70R15's on 15x7 Magnum's.
There's nothing like the sound of a pushrod V8 singing at the top of her lung's.

I don't think the torque boxes are reproduced.
You'd have to chop them out of a donor car.
I wonder how close the 65-66 Mustang torque boxes are to the Comets?

Nobody repos torque boxes for comets or falcons. You need to find a donor or fab' your own. Mustangs are totally different so won't work without some major alteration.

I asked a manufacture of repo. mustang frame rails once if they ever tried to fit their rails on other fords like maverick or comets. His reply was why would I do that. Enough said on their mentality.
Only use the brakes to stop and get gas.

Yeah they'd sell 5000 Mustang frame rails and 10 Comet frame rails. That's why the smart ass said that

Sooner or later all the mustangs will be fixed and they will be out of a job.

Yet for some inexplicable reason even the rusty Mustang shells sell for more than some nice running Comets :(

I'll have to say that this was the first 404 2 door post car I had personally seen. No disrespect to the hardtop's but I like that style even better. The proportion's really grabbed me.
