Trunk lock cylinder removal

Post by luc3ch »

My Comet has the remainder of the lock cylinder stuck in it. I open the trunk by twisting the shaft with pliers.

Trying to figure out how to get it out without damaging the trim piece it rides in.

The sheet metal housing the inside of the trunk makes it really hard to get to the retaining clip or whatever from the inside.

I attached an image which I hope you can view.

Any ideas?

Well I did get the lock cylinder out finally. The sheet metal around the inside of the trunk makes it hard to see what you're doing in there.

Drilled and twisted and finally got the remnants of the old cylinder out. I damaged the metal sleeve inside some but I think it's usable.

The SMP lock cylinder I bought at Parts is not the right configuration so I am on the hunt for the right part now.

Did you find a new lock? If so, where?
