Barrel Nut

Post by masonjarz »

Hi,

I bought a NOS "Mercury" emblem for the hood of my 1967 Caliente. It came with 3 of 4 OEM barrel nuts. These things are tiny.

I ordered some "Emblem Barrel Clip / Medium 0.120 - 0.130" from Eckler's but they're too big. I can't seem to find any on line which look the ones I need.

In the attached photos, the type I'm looking for is the smaller of the two.

Does anybody recognize them?

Thanks,

Ed

I think I bought some from my local Napa store a couple of years ago. They had some hanging on one of their racks. If nothing else, they should have an old parts catalog that they could look them up. Of course, you have to be lucky enough to have someone who works there who remembers how to use the books instead of the computer.

When using these do you put them on the emblem first or in the car first? Do you use any silicon with them to keep out water?

I put mine on the car first, and the ones I bought had some kind of sealer on them already, looked like plumbers putty but don't think that is what it is.

I got mine off of eBay BTW.

Like Mike said, put the barrel nuts on the car first. The ones I had, I don't think they had any kind of sealer on them. I didn't know they made them that way or I would have chosen those instead.

Well I could have lied about that, it might have been the clip nuts, I will see if I can figure out where I put the package of barrel nuts and see.
