Removing Front Fender Top ornament

Getting my 63 Comet ready for repaint
Got most of the trim off but working on the Front fender top ornament.
Are they attached using the barrell clips or are they bolted from inside the fender. Can't see well whats under the ornaments because of all the undercoating on the fender.
I looked in my parts manual and assembly manual but they don't say or I don't know how to read them

I found the mounting studs in the fender. Each ornament has 2studs going thru the fender with nuts on the bottom. I could get to the back stud thru the fender well. The front nut is in front of some kind of weather strip. I think I could get the nut off with an open end 3/8 wrench, but I don't think I could get it back on without removing the fender. They might have to stay on for painting.
