Oklahoma Caliente

Post by LT Dan's 64 Caliente »

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I've been looking for either a 66-67 Cyclone or Galaxy 500 for several years. I happened upon this girl crying for someone to save her from the weeds and the cancerous rust she's infected with. For $500 I've taken her home and will soon begin the very long journey of her restoration. The initial thoughts of my wife and I are to change from red to a beautiful black with black interior. So my wife can enjoy driving her as well, I'll keep her as an automatic. The tired, and mostly absent, 200 straight 6 will be replaced with either a 289/302 or 351. Leaning towards the 289 since she won't visit the local dragstrip very often. Luckily I found her with a straight body, other than the bumpers, and all of her chrome still there. Well, other than E and T missing on the passenger side rear quarter. Glad to have y'all along with me on this journey. Any tips or suggestions are truly appreciated. Working on a tablet right now so if the pics don't work, I'll try later on my laptop.

And of course it is a Comet and a way good price to start, I think all of us would have grabbed that little gem if we had a chance.

Welcome aboard Dan.

See Ya,

Thanks for the very warm welcome everyone. I have been watching the forum for a little while and I tell ya what, it didn't take long to see y'all have a vast knowledge I've been looking for. Most importantly, those that post regularly are helpful and not judgemental. That helps when it comes to asking questions. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Welcome aboard! Man, you 64 guys have been wuppin' up on us 65 guys lately. And what a deal at $500! That gives you a lot of room to turn her into your perfect ride on a reasonable budget. Lots of help available here, and remember, there are no dumb questions.
