Hi All-
I bought a 1964 Caliente Convertible 260 v8, automatic in July off of Ebay from Virginia. I had it shipped to my home in Iowa. Once I got it. It was a little rougher than I thought it would be but that's ok because I wanted a project for my daughter and I to work on. More rust around the wheel wells than anticipated and some areas starting to bubble up. It does get a lot of looks when I drive around though and I just love driving it.
I do have some questions. I want to change out the tired 260 to a crate motor..any suggestions on where I should get one from? I don't need anything to crazy but I would like some more zip. I'm also confused on the transmission. Since it's a 5bolt I will need a 6 bolt bell housing. Can I just swap out the 5bolt for a 6 bolt and it's that easy? Or do I need a whole new transmission?

Welcome! Probably a good time to look for a C4 or more if you going to a crate.
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about
