Hi All. Just found the forum. My ride is a great driver with high mileage. Needs a conversion to disc brakes because I like to drive it down through Big Sur. Main problem is I load two or three kids in the back seat and the rear bangs metal on metal over pot holes/bumps. Replaced the shocks already. Do the leaf springs wear out on these models because of the weight? How difficult to replace?

Yes, springs wear out. New ones can be had reasonably cheap. Check out this company who will make them exact to spec for your vehicle. http://www.saintlouisspring.com. There are others as well.

You could also try coil overs on the shocks at least for now to stiffen things up.

There should be a rubber stopper below the frame arch that keeps the metal from hitting the metal. Those can be had as well for cheap, but if you've got a lot of rust under there the clip may be gone/destroyed, so it may not be so easy to install.

Keep us posted, and post a photo from up top.

Welcome on!
Probably the same spring as a 66-7 Fairlane, should be easy to find.
