OK, here's mine
OK, here's mine
Here are some pictures of my '64 404. I have owned the car for a few years and have been slowly making progress. The underside of the car is done. The underside panels/aprons have been stripped and repainted. I installed a 9 inch rear with a 3.89 limited slip along with new leaf springs. The front suspension has been replaced and the 6 cylinder manual steering has been replaced with 8 cylinder manual steering. The 6 cylinder drums (I don't know how they ever actually stopped a car) have been replaced with Granada discs. Lots been done but lots more to go.
Wow man, is that a Falcon?

Nice, excellent details so far. Looks like these are summer pictures, have you made anymore progress since then?

Thanks. I have made some additional progress but not a lot to brag about. I have started on the interior getting everything ready to be repainted red and in general, making it presentable. I'd like to say I am all over the engine but I still can't decide what I am going to do. I have a roller 302 and T-5 and that will probably be the combo but I keep thinking about an FE.
Has anyone seen a similar side mirror as I have shown in the picture?
As an aside, I got a hold of the original owner (the name and address was in the owner's manual and they still are at that address) and she mailed me the original Bill of Sale. I got it yesterday. With the 309.30 in options and 54.00 transportation charge, the total came to 2576.30. Very nice of her. She said she'd trade it for some pictures of the car. I hope she doesn't feel cheated!

YOU, are VERY conservative about your progress!!
Welcome to the site.
You have a tidy piece there really like you pregress!
I noticed your toying about an FE.
Lots of additional work and cost both to get it in and
to build an FE, BUT they sure look great in the engine bay!
My vote would be the SB and T5,light, fun, lots of potencial
and I think you said you have it. Like that 2-4 set up!!

I vote for SB and T5 also. Looks like it's going to be a nice car!

Re: OK, here's mine
Great work. A question......What is the difference between a 202 and 404 2 door?
Re: OK, here's mine
Trim level
Re: OK, here's mine
I see. I assume the 202 is the base level, so I'm curious, what makes a 404?
Re: OK, here's mine
I'm not sure

Re: OK, here's mine
202,,,,,,,= GOOD STUFF,,,,404= TWICE AS MUCH!
Re: OK, here's mine
Did you do a stock rebuild of the front suspension?
Apparently some drill 2 lower holes for the upper control arms, lowers a little and handles better?
Did you change spindles to use the Granada disc setup?
I am just starting on my 404, 2 dr like yours

nice article
yep, I do have a GOOD internal spring compressor used many times on Mustang II susp
I guess I can get it in from the top - will check on that
has anyone tried to use the 1 1/8 V8 strg box and pitman arm with the 65 strg component changeover
don't have a 1" strg box and hate to go to the extra trouble (my box seems to be in good shape)
